Hello Young at Heart Friends and Families:
A flood of activities are happening at Young at Heart. Last week we had a very dynamic Day of Wellness… Helpful information about dementia, relaxing Mindfulness exercises, a delicious lunch, an energetic cardio-drumming workout, amazing shoulder massages and therapeutic activities led by Life Therapeutic Services. Thank you to all who participated and made this an amazing day! Life Therapeutic Services will return for a more informative Presentation on Wednesday, April 22 at 12:45-1:45.
Next Monday, April 13 @ 1:15, Dr. Dan Miller, a retired History Professor from Calvin, will start his three-part series, “World War I: The Great War that Created the Modern World.” Suggested donation: $5.00. I have a feeling my brain will be flooded with all that he knows!
On Wednesday, April 15 at 12:00-1:00, YAH will be taking a tour and doing a Service Project at Public Thread. Public Thread is a cutting edge learning lab that helps divert textile and manufacturing surplus /trash and repurpose/upcycle the materials into retail merchandise. Come learn about this innovative project! We will meet at the shop: 955 Godfrey SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Please RSVP. (Can some of our recent rain water be diverted to the West?)
UPDATES:
Mary Kaiser will plan to return to Tai Chi starting Monday, June 1st. In the meantime, YAH is still looking for an instructor to lead a Chair Exercise class until Mary returns. We will keep you posted with any new developments.
