For your Health and Wellness

Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;

What a cold, snowy weather pattern we have been in! Thank you for being patient as we try to work through the nuances of closures.

THIS WEEK:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28:  Classes are tentative at this point. Please stay tuned. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Wednesday’s lunch and afternoon activities have been cancelled. We hope the weather will cooperate so we will still be open for the Exercise classes, Woodcarving, Technology and Calvin Nurse’s Blood Pressure and Glucose Testing. We will send out an email, and post it on Facebook if the class schedule changes. Linked here is an AMENDED February Calendars as we had some additional information confirmed after the previous calendar was printed.

LOOKING FORWARD:

Click here for “For Your Health and Wellness” Flyer, highlighting a four-part mini-series coming in February. Unfortunately, some of these sessions are NOT listed on the February Calendar. We will have flyers available at YAH on the Resource Table. Each Presentation will take place in the Lounge at 10:45-11:15.

  • February 4: Jennifer from Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation, will present on resources for those struggling with vision loss. Mary Freebed treats Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Inherited Retinal Diseases.
  • February 11 and 18:  Calvin Nursing Students will be offering conversation and discussion about Mental Health First Aid. What is Mental Health? How can we reduce the stigmas related to mental health? What are the symptoms/causes? Why is it important at this point in my life?
  • February 25: Do you miss words or phrases in conversations? Is it difficult to follow group conversations?  Do you have trouble hearing on the phone? Carol from Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services will present on services for those struggling with hearing loss.

While we hope to see you soon, your safety and health is most important to us. So, please feel free to attend only when it feels best for your safety and wellness.

Best Wishes,

Virginia
