Dear Young at Heart Friends and Family:
THANK YOU:
The Finance and Fund Development Committees have asked me to forward to you a letter expressing appreciation for your generosity during our Summer Appeal and a status report.
Speaking of Thank yous and Donations….The Sewing Club and the Exercise Class’s shared space is now completed!! Thank you to all who were involved in making this happen! You are the BEST!!

The Sewing Club is off and sewing. They have a list of projects they are eager to continue or start anew. They love to have purpose for their goods and serve the Community. Over the past 11 years, the Sewing Club has supported Lighthouse for Teen Moms, St. Gianna’s, St. Alphonsus Pantry as well as supported an organization in Baldwin, MI; Strong Beginnings- Strong Dads, HELP Pregnancy Center, and DeGage. They anticipate making teddy bears for child victims of fires and domestic violence, making pillowcases for Ryan’s Case for Smiles through Gilda’s, and supporting a few organizations in the Appalachia area.
If you are interested, there are many ways you can help the Sewing Club. They welcome any and all sewers, they also welcome non-sewers to help in a variety of ways. They are seeking any donated flannel or fleece fabrics, 100% cotton fabrics, quilt batting or polyfill for the teddy bears and stuffed balls for infants. They are currently planning to have a display of their goods available for purchase for a small fee at the upcoming YAH Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebrations.
Lastly, THANK YOU to Mike Firlik for a wonderful presentation on Perspectives of WWll. It was informative, enlightening, touching, at times funny and poignant. Mike has written a book that tells the story of love, and war. The book is available for purchase at Schuler Books and on Amazon.
Next month’s presentation “Voices of Valor,” will feature the perspectives of three male Veterans as they share their experiences on their own personal front line.
