Happy Jumping June!

Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;

Welcome to June! The month for Fathers, the summer solstice, National Cancer Survivors Month, and many other great causes.

Sherry Burton provided an enlightening and informative presentation on the history of the Orphan Trains. It was an intriguing and revealing evening.

Upcoming Event: Monday, June 16, Valerie VanHeest will be presenting on the Disappearance of the  NWA Flight 2501 over Lake Michigan. A lunch of Sloppy Joes, chips, veggies and dessert will start at Noon. The “Fatal Crossing” Presentation will start at 10:45. Cost is $10.00. Bring a “new-to -YAH” friend for an additional $5.00.

HaPpY BiRThDaY: Our monthly BirthDay Brunch is Wednesday, June 18 at 9:30. If you see the following people, wish them a HaPpY BiRThDaY and join in the celebration: Liinda Borchers, Charla Fejedelem, Irene Franowicz, Mariann Gonsoir, Barb Hodgson, Larissa Holmes, Carol McDonnell, Susan Mead, Frank Minervini, Carol Nugent, Joni Otto, Dawn Powers, Emil Savoy, Jean Silbar, Virginia Stempien-Dewey, Barb Weaver, Eric Williams.

Ways to Help YAH: Young at Heart is always open to volunteers to help with lunches, plan outings and presentations, support other programming, and work behind the scenes. If you have a few free hours, would like a fun, enjoyable time helping us grow, let us know!!! We would love to have you join the team!

Another great way to support YAH is through sharing donations such as stamps for the cards we send to the Homebound; hospitality supplies such as paper plates, napkins, coffee/water cups; Bingo prizes; copy paper; gift cards to Meijer or Gordon Foods for lunch menus.

For those of you who make yearly donations, please consider a donation to Young at Heart as we are now a 501c3 that can accept tax-exempt donations.

Building A Sewing Club: Lastly, we have the opportunity to set up a room at 2nd Church for a sewing club. We have received a donated sewing machine, and have access to donated fabric. We have lost some of our sewers and are looking for a few new ones. If you are interested in being a part of this group and have YAH set up a space for you to gather let us know!!! Together the sewers work on projects separately or together, share tips, and find ways to share their sewing talents with a variety of community programs.

Despite what was previously reported, Senior Neighbors has stated, “There will be NO Technology Support Classes in June.” They apologize for the confusion.

Hope you have a great National Safety Month!
