Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;

Last week we had a wonderful trip visiting the Veterans Home on Monroe. It is a beautiful place that provides a home with a small community feel for those Veterans that require daily medical attention. We enjoyed lunch and a fun variety show with John Foley, Lori Jacobs, Patrick Foley and others. 

This week, we are highlighting some of the works of our woodcarvers. Spring is coming as evidenced in these recent relief carvings. 

THIS WEEK: Once again we are blessed with the senior Nursing Students. I apologize for the short notice, but based on your feedback these are the presentations they are going to be doing this week, Wednesday, April 9 and April 23. 

Calvin Nursing Student Presentations:

Wednesday, April 9 @ 10:45-Noon. The students will do brief presentations on Cardiac, Diabetic and Renal Diets. They will also share simple and small portion recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. AND bring samples!!!!

Wednesday, April 23 @10:45-Noon. The students will teach us how to read food labels, and eat smartly to increase immunities and hydration. They will also reflect on the “Sick Day Rules” for Diabetics.

Presentations will take place in the Gathering Room.

LATER THIS MONTH: 

In response to your feedback, MSU-Extension will be offering two 6-week classes starting April 30. The attached links will give you more information. You may attend the whole series, or those classes that are of the most interest to you. Please RSVP to help the instructor prepare. 

NEW ACTIVITIES:

  • Monday, May 5 – Spring into Wellness with Ivy Rehab, Blue Heron Massage Students, a healthy lunch, Pastor Anne and many other activities. We have 45 time slots set aside for massages. Invite your friends! Please RSVP for massages as well as lunch. Cost: $10.00/person or $15.00 if you invite a new YAH friend.
  • Monday, May 12 – Alesha Erbter will be offering a Yoga Class on Monday and Wednesdays at 1:30-2:30 Alesha is very excited to share her experience and passion for health. Her class will be tailored to meet the needs of those who attend. Please RSVP. Cost: $3.00 suggested donation per class. No one will be turned away.
  • Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 – Schubert Male Chorus is holding their Spring Concert featuring music from the 60’s. Cost is $20.00 in advance.
