Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;
Sometimes life can get busy and we forget about the everyday blessings that we have in our lives, or those who are closest to us that we take for granted. This week I wanted to feature our Cardmakers. Young at Heart makes and sends over 40 cards to our friends who are homebound, or have limited mobility, for a variety of reasons. Each card is an original. Cards are sent at least 7 times a year to the homebound. The crafters also make all occasion cards that they take home for their own use, as well as used by YAH for Sympathy, Thank yous, Birthdays and other occasions. Young at Heart is exceptionally appreciative of their time and beautiful craftwork. They are open to others joining them if you are interested.

On Saturday, Public Health Students from GVSU met with 12 YAH participants sharing health-minded snacks, health tips, and interviewing “those who have more birthdays.” Participants shared the challenges of aging, how technology has aided the process of aging and the need to improve access and communication with the older adult population. Many shared the benefits of participating in YAH activities and the value of increasing their social circle.
