Important Changes for 3/20/24

Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;

I apologize for getting the weekly newsletter out later than normal. I was waiting for some details regarding next week. Unfortunately, St. Alphonsus has a large funeral luncheon planned for Wednesday, March 20. Therefore there will be some changes to the morning schedule:

  • There will be no pickleball on Wednesday, March 20.
  • The BirthDay Brunch will be moving to the Lounge. However, I will need to limit the number of reservations to keep the area safe. So, please call in your RSVPs as soon as possible.
  • Colleen will plan to hold the Exercise class in a classroom for a sit-down lesson, on Wednesday, March 20.

Here are the March Birthday Celebrants: Jeanne Benedict, Mike Chatel, Alicia Damulakis, Barb Fischer, John Foley, Joan Heuvelhorst, Pam Jorstad, Dave Kirvan, Lisa Kraemer, Beth Krueger, Connie Kukla, Melissa Kuks, Sandy Olson, Darla Palazzola, Br. Leo Patin, Pat Petrowicz, Judy Portinga, Marcia Powell, Mary McNeil, Teresa Smith, Patricia Smith, David Snoap, Alejandra Sochanek, Pat Watkins, Amy West, Doug McKay, Carol Tracy. Wish them all a HaPpY BiRtHDaY!!

Just an update on Pickleball – This is a popular growing sport everywhere, even at YAH. So, we are adopting a few guidelines to help make it fun and safe for all. You are welcome to play with the groups that work best for you. Please respect the goal of each class, and play according to the skill levels the class aims to serve.

  • The Monday class for Beginners will primarily focus on helping participants learn the basics and controlling the ball to help foster longer volleys. This class promotes exercise, not strategy or competitive play.
  • The Tuesday class promotes competitive play, and practicing strategic skills. This is for intermediate players.
  • The Wednesday class for Beginners will also teach the basics, helping players advance to the intermediate level.

Celtic Trio

Monday, March 25, will be the last day to paint bowls for Soups On! the fundraiser for God’s Kitchen. Please RSVP if you are interested. Cost $8.00 to paint and donate the bowl. If you wish to keep the bowl, the cost is $10.00.

Euchre is alive and well. Come join the fun on Wednesday, March 27 at 12:45.

Munch & Movie will be starting Tuesday, April 2. Join new and old friends for lunch, then watch a matinee movie at Celebration Cinema for $5.00. See the flyer for the details
