Your Weekly Update — October 26, 2026
GOODBYE OCTOBER…HELLO NOVEMBER!
Can you believe we are already approaching the end of October? The fall colors have been absolutely beautiful, and I hope you’ve taken a little time to enjoy them!
As we turn the calendar to November, we have so much to be thankful for and some VERY EXCITING NEWS to share!

OUR BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR — EMILY!
We are absolutely THRILLED to announce that Emily will officially begin as our new Executive Director on Monday, November 2, 2026!
Emily will be at Young at Heart that day, and we hope everyone will stop by, introduce themselves, and give her a great big YOUNG AT HEART WELCOME!
Emily brings a wealth of experience in the nonprofit world, wonderful ideas, enthusiasm, and terrific energy that we know will be a great addition to our program!
We are so excited about all she has to offer and the possibilities ahead as we continue to grow, welcome new friends, and make Young at Heart an even more wonderful place to gather, learn, laugh, and enjoy life!
New faces, new ideas, new energy…and a wonderful new chapter for Young at Heart!
Please join us in giving Emily a warm welcome on November 2!
GAME ON! LAUGHTER, FRIENDS & A LITTLE COMPETITION!
Last week, Char introduced our participants to some fun games — Euchre, Yahtzee, and Skip-Bo!
We had THREE tables filled with enthusiastic players, plenty of laughter, a little friendly competition, and even a few excited shouts of “I WON!”

What a great way to spend time with friends, exercise our brains, and have some FUN!
Who says we have to grow up just because we’re getting older?
Come join us next time. There’s always room for another player!
OCTOBER BIRTHDAY BRUNCH — YUM!
What a wonderful turnout we had for our October Birthday Brunch!
And once again, Lisa outdid herself!
Our birthday celebration featured:
Ham & Cheese Biscuit Breakfast Casserole
Caramel Apple Salad
Both were absolutely delicious!
What a blessing Lisa is to Young at Heart! We are so grateful for the time, talent, and love she puts into preparing these wonderful meals for everyone.
Lisa’s recipes are included with this email, so you can try these delicious dishes at home!
GR ELDERLY CARE — A WONDERFUL PRESENTATION!
Following our Birthday Brunch, we were treated to an informative presentation from Jen and Heather of GR Elderly Care!
For many of us, this was our first introduction to their organization.
They shared their experiences helping individuals and families navigate senior care options and find the best possible setting for their needs, comfort, and quality of life.
Our audience was engaged, asked great questions, and came away with valuable information.
Thank you, Jen and Heather! We were impressed with your knowledge, compassion, and dedication to helping older adults live their best lives!

What better way to celebrate the season than sharing a meal with friends?
A REMINDER ABOUT MEALS ON WHEELS
Beginning in November, the suggested donation for Meals on Wheels for adults age 60 and older will increase from $3.50 to $4.00 per meal.
This increase helps offset the rising cost of food ingredients.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support!
A LITTLE SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT…
As we head into November, a month when we especially focus on gratitude, I hope you’ll take a moment to think about the people who make your days brighter.
At Young at Heart, we have so much to be thankful for — our volunteers, our wonderful participants, our speakers, our friendships, and the laughter that fills our Center.
And now, we have another reason to celebrate as we welcome Emily and begin an exciting new chapter together!
Young at Heart isn’t just a place to go. It’s a place to BELONG!
So bring a friend, share a smile, try something new, and help us make November another wonderful month!
SEE YOU AT YOUNG AT HEART!
Come for the activities…stay for the friendships!
