YOUNG AT HEART — WEEKLY NEWS!
WE’VE MADE IT TO THE MIDDLE OF OCTOBER!
Can you believe it? We are already approaching the middle of October! The fall colors are beautiful, the air is getting cooler, and things at Young at Heart are as BUSY and EXCITING as ever!
We have so much happening and even more coming our way. PLEASE read all the way through this email so you don’t miss something you might enjoy!
OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEART OF YAH!
WHAT A WONDERFUL EVENING!
This past week we celebrated some very special people at our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, and what a HUGE SUCCESS it was!
There was wonderful food, lots of laughter, great conversation, raffle prizes, and special take-home gifts for our volunteers who give so generously of their time and talents.
And then there was DARRELL THE DRAGON!
Darrell made quite an appearance, and he even brought his friend Chris along! We were certainly hoping Chris would show up, and we were not disappointed! What a fun addition to our evening!
A special thank you to our Board of Directors. All but one of our Board members were able to attend, and everyone worked hard to make this celebration special.
But most importantly, to ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS:
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Whether you help with activities, meals, setup, cleanup, special projects, or simply lend a hand wherever needed, YOU make Young at Heart the wonderful place it is.
We could not do what we do without YOU!

MONDAY, OCTOBER 19 — CHILI & HOT DOGS!
Nothing says fall quite like a warm bowl of chili!
And what goes better with chili than a good old-fashioned HOT DOG?
Monday, October 19, we’re serving up CHILI & HOT DOGS!
Come hungry, bring your appetite, and enjoy lunch with your YAH friends.
Sometimes the simplest things make for the BEST get-togethers!
LOOKING AHEAD — NOVEMBER IS FILLING UP!
We know November seems a little ways off, but there are some wonderful programs coming your way, and we want you to mark your calendars NOW!
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 — LET’S TALK ESTATE PLANNING!
10:45–11:45 AM
We are delighted to welcome back Rose Coonen, a local attorney and former Young at Heart Board member!
Rose will be joining us for a general discussion on Estate Planning, a topic that is important to all of us, regardless of age.
Have you thought about whether your affairs are in order? Do you have questions about wills, trusts, or other estate planning matters?
Rose will share helpful information and, best of all, there will be time for YOUR QUESTIONS!
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and better understand the importance of planning ahead.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend! This is one presentation you won’t want to miss!
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9 — HONORING OUR VETERANS!
10:45 AM
November 11 is Veterans Day, and here at Young at Heart, we want to take time to recognize the men and women who have served our country.
On Monday, November 9, we will gather for a special Veterans Day Celebration.
This will be an opportunity to reflect on service, sacrifice, patriotism, and the freedoms we enjoy because of those who answered the call to serve.
We especially want to recognize the veterans who are part of our own Young at Heart family!
If you are a veteran, we hope you will join us. And if you know a veteran who might enjoy spending the morning with us, please invite them!
More details about our celebration will be coming soon.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVED!
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 — HOW’S YOUR HEARING?
9:30 AM–Noon
We are pleased to welcome Beltone Hearing to Young at Heart!
They will be offering:
- Hearing evaluations
Earwax evaluations and management
Hearing aid services
Good hearing helps us stay connected to the people and activities we love.
Think ahead and be ready to SIGN UP! This is a great opportunity to have your hearing checked.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16 — MAHJONG IS BACK!
READY FOR ROUND TWO?
Our introduction to Mahjong has sparked interest, and we are excited to offer our SECOND MAHJONG SESSION!
A HUGE thank you to Lynnette Moyer for sharing her knowledge, patience, and expertise with us!
Whether you’re just learning or already know a little about the game, we hope you’ll join us.
Want to get a head start before our next session?
Visit YouTube.com and search for American Mah Jongg instructional videos. You can watch demonstrations of the game and become more familiar with the tiles and rules before we meet again.
Come learn something NEW, challenge your mind, and have FUN!
THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING HAPPENING AT YOUNG AT HEART!
As we move through this beautiful fall season, I hope each of you will find time to join us for an activity, share a meal, learn something new, or simply spend time with friends.
And remember, YOU are what makes Young at Heart so special!
Come for the activities. Stay for the friendships. And bring someone new along!
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
