Dear Young at Heart Friends and Family;
This month, many of you will be hearing from members of our newly formed Fundraising Committee as they kick start a Summer Appeal Campaign. Please welcome them as this is a difficult task, but an important part of sustainability for the Young at Heart’s amazing program.
A message from the Young at Heart Fundraising Committee:
“Young at Heart can use your help. While we are working on sustainable sources of income (like the Kent County Senior Millage), we will be experiencing a budget shortfall by the end of the year. If you can, please consider a contribution now to continue this valuable program. Donations of any amount can be made in person, by mail, or online: www.youngatheartgr.org/donate. Thank you! “
On this same note, the price of postage stamps will be increasing on July 13. YAH uses a lot of stamps sending out “Get Well” cards, “Birthday” Invitations/Cards, “Thank You” notes, and about 40 cards to the Homebound seven times a year. Another way to help YAH, is to purchase stamps prior to the price increase as this is another valuable resource we could use.
PROGRAM CHANGES:
- We have had an exciting change to the printed calendar. While Colleen is on vacation, Chris Reinsma will be filling in. That means EXERCISE CLASSES will meet on Monday, July 7, 9 and 16. There will be NO CLASS on Monday, July 14. Please show Chris the “Young at Heart” enthusiastic and warm welcome for which you are known.
- Also note that the Young at Heart will be socializing, playing games, having lunch and playing BINGO at Mary Waters Park (near the corner of Leonard and Lafayette) on Monday, July 7. Please RSVP if you plan to join us for lunch at the park. The exercise classes will still meet at 2nd Church at the regularly scheduled times.
- “Ladies of the Lights” Presentation is Wednesday, July 9: Dianna Stampfler, has been entertaining audiences about Michigan’s historic lighthouses, agricultural heritage, unique treasurers, covered bridges and vintage postcards for nearly 20 years. A professional writer, broadcaster and public speaker, Dianna’s programs are lively and upbeat. The doors will open for an Ice Cream Social starting at 6:15 with the presentation starting at 7:00pm. Cost is $10.00. We will have a fun drawing to celebrate the end of our three-part Spring Speaker Series. Bring a new YAH friend, cost is $15.00/two. RSVP. This event is Sponsored by Coonen Law Offices.
As we head into the 4th of July Weekend, please take time to thank a Veteran, Celebrate our Freedoms, and have a safe & healthy holiday!
Much Appreciation for all the support you have shown Young at Heart,
Virginia
