I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I know I’m excited for another fun-filled week at Young at Heart, and I hope you are too!
I can’t believe I’ve already been here for a full month! It has truly been a joy getting to know so many of you. Every week I learn more names, hear more stories, and see firsthand how much this wonderful community means to each of you. Watching friendships grow and seeing everyone enjoy the activities and events has made my heart incredibly happy.
One thing I’ve learned is that as we continue to grow, a few changes will help things run even smoother.
New Check-In Location Beginning Monday, July 13
Starting Monday, July 13, our sign-in podium will be moving just a little farther down the hallway to create one central check-in location for all Monday and Wednesday activities.
Tuesday and Thursday activities will continue to use the sign-in station near the main entrance since there are fewer activities taking place on those days… for now!
This small change will help us:
- Keep accurate attendance records for funding and planning.
- Better prepare for future programs.
- Give everyone another chance to stop, visit, and say hello before activities begin.
After all, some of the best conversations happen before the fun even starts!
Calendar Corrections
Thank you for your patience as we continue improving our monthly calendar and I grow into this role.
The Calendar will be on one page which makes it easier to read and gives everyone a quick look at everything happening each month. I hope you’ll find it easier to plan your schedule—and maybe even invite a friend!
Please Note:
Whitecaps Outing
The Whitecaps game is Tuesday, July 7, NOT July 14 as listed on the calendar. I apologize for the confusion!

A Little Thought for the Week
Change isn’t always easy… but neither is gardening!
If the seasons never changed, we wouldn’t enjoy fresh tomatoes, sweet corn, juicy peaches, or beautiful flowers.
Sometimes change is simply the beginning of something even better.
Thank you for growing with us as Young at Heart continues to blossom!

Summer Recipe Corner
Young at Heart Lemon-Mint Iced Tea
Ingredients
- 4 black tea bags
- 4 cups boiling water
- 4 cups cold water
- Juice of 2 lemons
- ¼ cup honey or sugar (or to taste)
- Fresh mint leaves
- Ice
Directions
Steep the tea bags for 5 minutes, then remove them. Stir in the honey while the tea is still warm. Add the cold water, lemon juice, and mint leaves. Chill well and serve over ice.
Bonus Tip: Add a few frozen blueberries or raspberries instead of ice cubes for a festive summer treat!
Smile of the Week
Why do seniors make the best gardeners?
Because they know that the best things in life take time to grow!
Thank you for being such an important part of the Young at Heart family. Every smile, conversation, and friendship helps make this center a place where everyone belongs.

Have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you soon!
Charlene
