Due to the continuation of extreme temperatures, and icy roads Young at Heart Activities will be cancelled for Wednesday, January 22. We will plan to combine January BirthDay Celebrants with the February Celebrants on Wednesday, February 19. The African Safari Travelogue will be rescheduled. Hopefully for March.
We hope to see everyone on Monday, January 27.
Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;
As we experience a cold and snowy winter, I thought it best to let you know the cancellation policy for YAH. If YAH opts to close or 2nd Church closes their facility for any reason, we will send out a group email as early as possible. We will also aim to post the closing on WOOD Radio and Channel 13 TV.
The February Calendar is now available (Webmaster note: This will be posted on the website calendar shortly!). There are some great events and opportunities for all. One special event includes a partnership with Coit Arts Academy. YAH will be working with some of their students in February and March, We need YOU to make this be a wonderful learning experience for the students!
- Community Outreach: Coit Arts Academy Second Graders are looking for a few friendly “older persons’ to interview during the first week in February for their lesson called, “A Place in Time.” If you are willing to participate in this fun opportunity, please contact YAH to sign up. Date and time is not yet determined. In March, we will be joining the students for National Reading Month. If you are willing to take a few moments to read to grade schoolers ages 5-10, please contact YAH. Various times will be available.
YAH will also continue its Service Project with StoreHouse Community Resources. We had a great time packaging supplies for upcoming Summer Camps for Children. Attached are a few pictures. Each month will be a different project. Come join the fun on February 12.

In the next couple of weeks YAH will post its year end financial statement. Thank you to each of you for the variety of ways that you contribute to Young at Heart. Contributions come in many ways… sometimes it’s a smile that welcomes a new member, the donation you make to the coffee fund, a gift for a Bingo prize, or a contribution from your IRA. All types are welcome! The Executive Board will be striving to make YAH viable and sustainable for years to come. If you have ideas on fundraising opportunities, please let us know, as we work toward establishing a sustainability plan for the next couple of years.
We have much appreciation for all our participants! Please continue to invite your friends to join us. The more the merrier!
Lastly, we ask for your prayers and kind thoughts as one of our longtime participants, Pat Adams, has been recently diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer.
Wishes to you all, please stay safe and warm during this chilly season.
