Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;
Next Monday, June 24 is our Formal Ten Year Anniversary Celebration. It will also be my last day at St. Alphonsus YAH. This is both a joyous occasion and a sad one. It is tough, and very poignant to have these happening at the same time. Come join us for Pizza or Veggie Lasagna, salad, and Ice Cream Social. We will be reminiscing, playing games, watching videos, recalling good times, reflecting on new friendships and loved ones we miss. These have been a wonderful ten years!!! Please RSVP for lunch, or stop in to say “Hi.” Lunch will be served at 12:00. Games and slide shows start at 12:30.
As we are winding down and getting closer to our transition, I wanted to let you know that you can still get Support Services for your technological questions. On-going Computer Training and drop-in services are available at Senior Neighbors, 678 Front St NW, STE #205, GR 49504. There is a handicap access lot, close to the building, as well as street parking. The main parking lot is directly across the street from the main entrance.
For those 60+ who may be seeking employment and need some additional training regarding the use of technology. Check out the Career Workshop for Seniors. Please feel free to pass it along to your friends and family.
Just an UPDATE:
Young at Heart Senior Enrichment Program has been actively involved in taking our next step forward. We have one Northend Church Community that is very eager to welcome us. However, in the meantime we are securing a 501c3 Non-profit status, which will open the door to secure funding. We are also acquiring Liability Insurance to be sure all are safe. We are planning to announce the new location and further information by Mid-July.
We will continue to send regular emails as we move through this process. If you are interested in helping us to get classes and activities started please let us know. What classes do you wish for us to offer? What classes would you like to see added? Would you like to help volunteer in some capacity, such as making coffee, leading an activity, teaching a skill, helping to organize outings and/or presentations… If you have any other suggestions or concerns, please let us know. If you would like to help us put together a great FundRaiser as we re-introduce ourselves to the Creston-Belknap Neighborhoods, please let us know. There is room for everyone!!
As you are aware, St. Alphonsus plans to continue some of the programs as well as some additional programming. It is not our goal to compete with another program. We may offer different activities, we may offer programming on different days… Let us know what you would like this to look like. We are excited to continue partnering with some of the Community Programs, as well as pursuing different ones. YAH was founded on the belief, “As one door closes, another door opens.” It is in the spirit of this motto that we will approach our next endeavor. We ask for your prayers and a little patience.
God’s Peace!
