2023 Year in Review and more!

Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;

This week, several YAH participants enjoyed a wonderful trip to Santorini, Greece through a travelogue, as we learned from a great master, about ancient volcanoes that formed the beautiful Greek Isles. Next month we continue to learn more about stratovolcano activity as we ‘travel’ to Japan, and ‘visit’ Mount Fuji.

In the meantime, back at ‘home’, we have several announcements:

PICKLEBALL

  • We have added an additional Beginners Pickleball on Mondays at 10:45-noon. This class offers a few drills, basic instructions and play time.
  • Starting in March, we are asking all pickleball players to chip in and pay a small donation. This donation will help us contribute to the wear and tear on the net, the floor markings, and overall use of the gym. We suggest a $3.00 donation as a way to keep all exercise programs comparable.
  • Lastly, we ask that if you arrive on Mondays or Wednesdays before the exercise class has completed, please gather in the cafeteria, or wait quietly in the hallway, so as to not disrupt the exercise class.  Thank you!!  😊

HEARING TESTS

  • Due to poor weather conditions and illness the Hearing Tests in January-February were rescheduled for Monday, March 4th. This change has opened up a few time slots. If you are interested and can fill one of the following slots, please RSVP soon. There is an opening at 9:00, 9:30, and 12:30pm.

LINE DANCING

  • Due to circumstances beyond our control, Line Dancing has been postponed until April. Hold tight to your dancing shoes!

LINKS

  • March is fast approaching, and we have several fun activities coming up. Check out the new March Activities Calendar.
  • Saturday Walking Club will be trying out a few different paved paths in March. RSVP if you’d like to get a jump start on your spring work-out.
  • Every year we combine the results of the Fall Survey along with a summary of the past year’s activities – here is the Year End Review for 2023. Enjoy the read! It was a fun year!
  • Additionally, here is a pie chart that reflects the Income and the Expenditures for 2023

10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

  • WE NEED YOU!!!  2024 reflects the 10 year anniversary of Young at Heart Senior Enrichment Program. We would like to hold a celebration in the Fall. If you would like to help us plan this event, or if you have some ideas to help us embrace this milestone, please do not hesitate to contact us. Planning will start this Spring.

Thank you all for your continued participation and support. This program exists FOR you. It would not exist without you. We need you to help us to continue serving you! We also want to say “Thank you” to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the staff, who continue to provide YAH with a great space and support YAH in many other ways!

With gratitude,

Virginia
