Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family;

🍁 🍂 🍃 Leaves are changing colors and starting to Fall. This is a part of the cycle of life, as change is inevitable. Let us embrace this beauty together! The beauty of all creation, including each other. The beauty of diversity in people and in the YAH programming… The beauty that lies within each other.  

Attached are two pictures from our September BirthDay brunch, showing a few of the Birthday Celebrants, and our Cultural Dancer, Chit Barker. October Birthday Brunch will feature our handy crafters and artisans. Join us Wednesday, October 19th. 

Speaker of our crafters, embracing beauty and creativity…  The YAH crafters and artisans will be selling their crafts after the Sunday Masses October 2nd. Stop by in the Parish Center between 8:00 am-Noon. Tons of goodies for gift ideas…. See the attached flyer for more information. 

October is sure to be a busy month. Please make your RSVPs for the various activities and lunches as soon as possible to help us plan the proper spaces, food and supplies. 🍁 Calling all Euchre Players!  Char is back leading Euchre. We have some previous players as well as some new ones. Some experience is preferred. Call if you want to learn, and Char will help you out before you join the group next month. This week, the fun is on Wednesday, September 28th at 12:30-2:30. 

 Next week Monday, October 3rd at 10:30, we start the Faith Series: Embracing the Beauty of Creation. This is a six-part series that incorporates song, video, prayer and discussion. This is NOT a series about global warming. This is a series about a place we call Earth. We call home. It is about beauty, it’s about interconnectedness, and mutual dependency. It’s about growing in a deeper way to care about each other through our shared environment. Please join this discussion, as it is more meaningful when we can do this together. Freewill donation for Marywood Dominican Center. Please RSVP to help us plan the best space.

 Monday, October 3rd @ 12:45-1:45:Join Gina Bivins, the current president of the Grand Rapids Historical Society, as she presents A Legacy of Public Art: One Woman’s ViewFestival of the Arts Grand Rapids has featured regional artists the first weekend in Junefor over 50 years. ArtPrize has brought artists from all over the world to Grand Rapids inmid-September for over 10 years. These are not the only times that art can beappreciated in this town. Take a virtual trip around the area and see what graces ourlandscape. Learn the history of some of our local art. Freewill donation for GR . Lunch will be served at 12:00.  RSVP.

 Pickleball will be moving indoors this week, September 26th. Meet us at St. Alphonsus gym on Tuesday at 9:30-11:00. If the number of players exceeds 8, we will start at 9:00 to offer more time. If you would like to play pickleball but would prefer a different day or time, please let us know. This is a popular, growing sport with limited space. YAH may be adding another day/time to accommodate the growth.
