Hello Young at Heart Friends and Family:
Lest I forget…. Happy Belated Father’s Day to all our Wonderful Dads!!!
With all the activities going on at St. Alphonsus the past two weeks, YAH has had to be flexible and creative as we manage to share space at the Parish Center. The staff at St. Al’s as well as the many volunteers and myself have appreciated all of the flexibility and patience many of you have demonstrated. THANK YOU!!!
Next week Monday, June 27th, Beltone will be here for the FREE Hearing Tests. Surprisingly we still have a few openings. Call 616.913.4419 or email info@youngatheartgr.orgASAP if you are interested in a 30- minute time slot between 9:00-12:30.
Wednesday, June 29th is the lunch outing to Bud-n-Stanleys, and Glow Golf. You can join us for part or all of the outing. Again, please call or email to RSVP.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Young at Heart is looking for a few volunteers:
- One task is helping us to maintain the Carrier St. Creston Neighborhood Garden plot that helps supply YAH and St. Al’s Pantry with tomatoes, peppers, squash and beans this summer. We could use someone to help water, do a little weeding and help harvest the crops during peak season. Extra hands make light work.
- YAH is planning to sell raffle tickets for our fundraiser for the sailboat excursion on Desire, after the Masses one of the weekends in early July. We are waiting for confirmation on the dates. Please let me know if you might be willing to help sell tickets after one of the weekend Masses. Attached is more information about this Sailing Adventure.
- Lastly, last Wednesday we learned more about the August election and the renewal for the Kent County Senior Millage. Attached is more information. If you are willing to put a sign in your yard to promote the renewal, or wish to hear more about the mileage please let us know. Here is the link to Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan, the gatekeeper for the mileage dollars. https://www.aaawm.org/
I hope everyone is enjoying the warm summer weather, while staying comfortably cool and rested.
God’s Peace,
Virginia
